This morning we attended church at the
Tower of London. We all dressed up in our Sunday best and sat in on the service. One of our professors, Jane England called ahead to let them know we would be attending. We were acknowledged and welcomed at the beginning of the service. It was a nice service; different and the music was beautiful. There was a choir of 10 and it was amazing to listen to them. Some of them are professional singers with the BBC.

The lesson/message given by the Priest (?) was about how unchristian many Americans have been regarding the death of Osama Bin Laden. He understood that Osama did horrible things but the manner that people in America celebrated the death of an individual was cruel. He knew that some people may be offended by his message but I was not offended because I agreed that we should not rejoice any individuals death. We all know that Bin Laden did many awful things but the celebrating seemed vengeful/animistic. I am relieved that Osama was put a stop to. I'm grateful for those that sacrificed their lives for my freedom/liberty. I do not disregard the loss of the their loved ones. However, I'm aware things don't end with Osama's death. The hate, war and terrorism will continue in other ways from other people outside and within America. We fool ourselves by thinking anything is over.
The Tower Church that we were in was used as a place for executions and burials. These executions were of High ranking individuals. Queen Anne Boleyn was executed and buried here. Since the bodies were discarded under the floor boards of the church identifying bodies was not easy. However, Queen Anne had 6 fingers on one hand and was easily identified. Queen Elizabeth had the bodies excavated and given a proper burial. The executions were carried out on Tower Green. The Tower of London was a palace and a political prison.

After the London Tower we walked on the Bridge Tower, that was pretty cool.
